What is your career highlight so far?
“Winning the ITF title in Abidjan.”
Desmond won his first ITF singles championship after having to go through qualifiers for the main event in Abidjan. He defeated countryman Abubakari Yakubu-Lea in the final.
On top of that, he’s reached four quarterfinals and a semifinal this year.
What are your toughest challenges?
“We don’t get any support from the national federation. I’m really lucky to have a coach who tries to travel with me. It doesn’t always happen, but he’s planning to come to the Teen World Open.”
What are your goals?
“I’d love to play pro tennis and college tennis sounds great to me too, to get a major in the U.S.”
